Our Tour Leaders

  • When Justin was just eight years old, a fleeting moment with a wild bear ignited a deep curiosity that would shape the course of his life. Years later, while studying in Alaska, he found his calling as a park ranger in Katmai National Park, immersing himself in the rich tapestry of ecosystems that define the region. Nicknamed an “eco-nerd” by friends and colleagues, his interests spanned everything from microbial life to sprawling glacial valleys.

His journey has since spanned across more than 30 countries, leading nature-focused expeditions and sharing his love for the wild with fellow adventurers. From the icy reaches of northern Canada to the dense rainforests of Borneo, Justin has guided photographers through some of the planet’s most remote corners, capturing untamed beauty along the way.

The roots of his wild-hearted passion trace back to childhood visits to Yellowstone, where early experiences sparked a lifelong reverence for the natural world. It was Katmai, however, that became his proving ground—a place where he refined both his wilderness skills and photographic voice. Immersed in Alaska’s raw landscapes, he developed a distinctive style that seeks to portray nature with unfiltered honesty and depth.

His photography has appeared in multiple publications and campaigns, a testament to his unwavering commitment to telling nature’s story through the lens.

  • Hello, my name is Kelton Johnson and I am currently 25 years old and a graduate of UVU earning my degree in aviation science with a commercial pilot focus! While I do have a passion for flying and plan on doing so for my career, I also love photography. Most of my free time is spent either out in the field, editing, researching, or working on this website. I think it all started with my interest in how things work and wanting to learn how to operate them. When I was in my childhood I’d often look up to the stars or rush outside at the sound of an aircraft just to stand, watch, and wonder. I liken this to when I first held and used a DSLR camera in my high school photography class. After seeing all the different ways I could manipulate the settings on a camera to take the picture I wanted immediately hooked me. Since that experience in 2018 I have been working on my skills and understanding almost daily.

My favorite types of photography consist of primarily wildlife, deep sky astrophotography (DSO), landscapes, and aviation. Images that take a long time to produce give me a wealth of satisfaction and these areas of photography seem to do just the trick for me.

I share my photography in a different way in that I only reveal my full work from the year on an annual basis in my annual galleries. I do this so I can spend as much time on my images as I need and to hopefully help myself stand out amongst the millions of photographers out there.

With each click of her camera, she tries to capture special moments and the intricate relationships between wildlife and their environments. Jennifer’s work not only reflects her love for the natural world but also emphasizes the importance of conservation and appreciation for our environment. Through her lens, she aims to inspire others to recognize the importance of wildlife and the need to protect it for future generations.
