Dates: october 22-27, 2026

Location: glasgow & scottish highlands, scotland

Price: $USD

Fitness Level: LEVEL 4 - ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT

We will have the use of two Argos to transport us around the estate property. While this is a convenience, the terrain is very rough and you must understand that the ride will reflect that. Except for one person seated in the front, you will be climbing into and out of the back of the Argo. Once on a location, there may be some hiking necessary to get into position. The terrain can be steep, very uneven, and most definitely wet. You will have the option not to participate in the hiking portions and remain in the lodge for editing sessions with a leader. There are also often deer and birds right outside the lodge that can be accessed by foot off the road/paths, and we will take advantage of those situations as well.

Group Size: 6 participants + 2 group leaders

Tour Highlights:

  • Photograph red deer and stags in their natural habitat with exclusive access on a private Highland estate.

  • Trip scheduled to coincide with the end of the rut, when stags are on the move and active — roaring, fighting, herding hinds, and displaying dramatic behavior and posture.

  • Expert local tracker/stalkers with deep knowledge of deer behavior, estate topography, and safe, ethical wildlife practices ensure you are positioned where the action is most likely.

  • Opportunities for a range of images — intimate portraits of stags and hinds, wide-angle landscape compositions with deer silhouettes, action sequences of stags clashing, and behavior shots (chasing, tending, vocalizing).

  • Low-light and golden-hour emphasis: Extended dawn and dusk sessions planned to exploit dramatic backlight, mist, and warm seasonal color for moody, cinematic images.

  • 4x4 transportation around the estate to get close while minimizing disturbance.

  • On-tour photographic coaching and instruction, covering exposure for low light, autofocus and tracking in action sequences, lens selection and framing for environmental portraits, and post-processing tips/editing sessions.

  • Small group experience: Limited group size for quiet movement, better access to shooting positions, individualized feedback, and a respectful approach to wildlife.

  • Weather and atmosphere variety: Highland weather delivers dramatic skies, mist, and changing light — all elements that enhance mood and storytelling in your images.

  • Beautiful lodging and meals on the estate, with scheduling designed around prime photographic windows and necessary rest between long shooting days.

  • Portfolio-building outcomes: Expect a diverse set of high-quality images — action, portrait, and environmental — suitable for prints, exhibitions, and editorial or commercial use.

Tour Leader: Nick white

For Nick, lifelong passion for nature, wildlife and stunning photographs lends itself to a life now spent pursuing wildlife and capturing those unique and raw moments. Born and raised in Prince Edward County, Ontario, he spends his time exploring, hiking, and camping both locally and abroad, becoming entrenched in the landscape and nature around him. He strives through his images to tell the authentic story of flora and fauna, and to inspire others to invest their time into becoming stewards of the natural world.

Nick’s first camera was picked up at a young age, and was never put down, rather just replaced along the way. He considers himself a lifelong learner, always embarking on a new adventure or career, in search of unique experiences and opportunities to create images. If there has been one constant in his life, it’s that he never goes anywhere without his camera.

Nick packed his bags and left Ontario for Scotland for three wonderful years where he took in as many wild experiences as he could, and developed a deep understanding of Scotland’s wildlife. Feeling that he left nothing on the table, he is beyond excited to be back photographing the amazing animals that caused him to fall in love with nature during his youth. If asked, he would tell you that it brings him great joy to share his images and the stories that accompany them to anyone who takes the time to look and listen.

I found my “happy place” five years ago when I bought my first camera, and I’ve been chasing light and landscapes ever since. After living in Scotland for seven years—many of them spent living the full James Herriot life in the Highlands—I fell completely in love with the rugged scenery that surrounded me.

Landscape photography quickly became my creative escape, a way to enjoy the quiet moments between the long stake-outs, brief excitement (and inevitable frustrations) of spotting wildlife. I like to think I’ve developed a decent eye for unique compositions and I’ve had a lot of fun curating images from this wild corner of the world.

As a veterinarian, I have a deep appreciation for all creatures, great and small, and that reverence finds its way into my wildlife images. I also love the process of post-image editing, where a photo can be gently coaxed into life, or transformed into something entirely unexpected, becoming a new piece of art in its own right.
