Daily itinerary
Day 1
Arrival Day
Stay at Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ladysmith.
Arrival dinner where you will meet your fellow photographers, enjoy a welcome dinner, and an introduction to the workshop.
Day 2
Pick-up in Nanaimo, BC – The adventure begins as we travel towards the remote west coast.
Bear Viewing at Sarita River – Midway along our route, we’ll stop a prime location to observe black bears fishing for salmon in the river.
Arrival at Pacific Sounds Lodge – Settle into the private waterfront lodge, meet your fellow photographers, and enjoy a welcome dinner with an introduction to the workshop.
Day 3
Morning Zodiac Excursion – Capture the morning light as we head out onto the water in search of whales, sea otters, sea lions, and coastal bird species.
Midday Editing & Instruction – Learn key techniques for composition, exposure, and post-processing.
Afternoon Beach Walk & Forest Exploration – Photograph the lush coastal rainforest, tidepools, and stunning seascapes.
Evening Zodiac Excursion – Another opportunity to photograph marine wildlife in golden light, with guidance on capturing movement and behavior.
Day 4
Morning Bear & Bald Eagle Photography – Return to prime bear viewing locations along the coast and rivers.
Workshop Session: Advanced Camera Settings – A tailored session to help refine skills like focus tracking, exposure compensation, and manual mode shooting.lodge’s peaceful surroundings.
Final Zodiac Excursion – Our last boat trip to capture the essence of this wild and remote region.
Closing Dinner & Image Showcase – A relaxed evening sharing favorite images and reflecting on progress made during the workshop.
Day 5
Sunrise Photography Session – A last chance to capture the beauty of the coastal landscape.
Breakfast & Wrap-Up – Final discussions and departure from the lodge.
Return to Nanaimo – A scenic journey back, with a stop for any last wildlife opportunities along the way.
